New Resource for Online Information

(September 24, 2005) Beaucoup is a search directory that is different because the engines listed on the main site (all but the category called "Shopping") are what you can call "free information" sites -- that is, they offer you a lot of content, not simply lists of commercial products or services. They must also be searchable in that they have either an input engine or an alpha-numeric listing -- anything which allows the user to zero in on pages pertaining to the topic they're researching. Try Beaucoup Search and see the difference.

New Blog Search by Google

Human Development 2005 Report

(September 7, 2005) The world goals for Human Development include halving extreme poverty, reducing child deaths by two-thirds and achieving universal primary education by 2015. However, the findings contained in the 2005 Human Development Report presented to world leaders a week before they meet in New York for a U.N. summit to review progress toward the Millennium Development Goals are not good for all countries.

Despite world progress, many countries are falling behind, especially in sub-Saharan Africa, where the HIV/AIDS pandemic is dramatically reducing life expectancy and creating financial and social burdens that slow development. Unless drastic measures are implemented, the world will not meet its targets for reducing poverty.

The index ranks 177 countries based on key indicators such as income, life expectancy and education from year 2003. Norway tops the list, while Niger is last.
The report is available in several languages (pdf).
